The JMA's 2020 Ride to Remember (R2R) will be held April 30 through May 3 in San Diego California. We are fully aware that you may not be able to attend this year - possibly due to the location and the cost to get there.
You can, nonetheless, help raise funds for this worthwhile cause and be recognized at the event. This message contains suggestions and SAMPLES (meaning you can write your own or modify these to your liking) as well as recommendations on how to leverage social media to help us maximize the results.
Thanks for your help. We hope to see you in San Diego. But, if you can't, we hope you can help this worthwhile charity regardless.
Dear friends,
As you may be aware, the Ride 2 Remember (http://ride2remember.com/) has worked to sustain the defining doctrine of all free men and woman around the world; that people of all races and religions must be treated equally and without prejudice. From 1933, when Dachau was set up, to 1945 when Hitler was defeated, six million men, women and children of the Jewish faith, along with 7 million other innocent people, were murdered in the worst genocide in the history of humankind.
This year, we are thrilled that the Ride 2 Remember will be held in San Diegoto raise money for The Butterfly Project.Their program זכרון ותקוה (Zikaron V’Tikvah) - Hebrew for Remembrance and Hope - was co-founded in 2006 by educator Jan Landau and artist Cheryl Rattner Price. Jan and Cheryl started this as an initiative at San Diego Jewish Academy to take Holocaust education out of the textbook and bring it to life in a way that inspires students to make the world a better place.
The mission of The Butterfly Project is a call to action through education, the arts and memorial making. It uses the lessons of the Holocaust to educate about the dangers of hatred and bigotry and cultivates empathy and social responsibility. Participants paint ceramic butterflies that are permanently displayed as symbols of resilience and hope, with the goal of creating 1.5 million butterflies around the world—one for each child who perished in the Holocaust, and honoring the survivors.
If you haven’t yet made your year-end gift, now is a wonderful time to support this project, even if you are unable to travel to San Diego. We are excited to be partnering with this wonderful non-profit organization. Wishing you the best this holiday season.
